Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice of the National Association of REALTORS®

What is the code of ethics and how do I file a complaint?

For over 80 years the REALTOR® Association has developed and enforced a Code of Ethics for its members. As the practice of real estate has evolved over that time, so has the Code. It is reviewed annually and updated as needed.

Anyone may inquire about enforcement of the Code by calling the Association's Executive Officer Mary Scollard at (360) 416-4902. All calls are held in strictest confidence. The Association only acts to investigate a potential ethical violation when the complaint is filed in writing. Information on how to file a complaint may be obtained by calling the Association.

The following is a summary of the 17 Articles of the Code of Ethics. This is only a summary. If you identify an item that interests you, click on that number and it will take you to the entire text of the Article and its clarifying Standards of Practice. CAUTION: Any complaint must cite the Article or Articles that have been violated. Read the complete text of the Article for applicability.
